Meet instructors outside of ASSC main office where you will be briefed and issued your sailing kit and the instructors will show you the location of the changing rooms, toilets, lockers and drying rooms. (See notes below re clothing and equipment)

There is a cafeteria onsite to purchase lunch if required and there is plenty of room for groups to sit and enjoy their packed lunch whilst enjoying the amazing views of the harbour.

What to bring and other essential info

Included in your course cost is the use of our wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and spray tops. Students will need to bring with them suitable footwear (Close toed footwear) (old trainers or wetsuit boots), swimwear (for under wetsuits) and shorts and T shirts, finally a towel is essential. A warm change of clothes for afterwards is also advisable.


Other useful items not to forget are a water bottle (there are water fountains onsite), sun cream, sun hat and a waterproof camera. There are lockers available however we look after personal possessions belonging to the group.


*RYA Books – If you already have a log book we would kindly ask you to bring it with you on your first day and hand it to your instructor. If you do not have a log book and would like to purchase one we do have them available for sale at our centre. A log book is yours to keep and all sailing qualifications gained at an RYA recognised training centre will be logged.

Step up to the next level of instructing. The Senior Instructor (SI) is an experienced instructor who has been assessed as competent to organise and manage courses within the RYA's Sailing Scheme. The 4 day course covers the role of the Senior Instructor including centre management, on water management and delivery of on water sessions. You will be guided through the course by our extremely experienced RYA Coach assessors at the UK’s hub for sailing. If you book a course over 2 weekends, the second weekend will always be the following one after the first.

Alex Porter Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre

Alex joined the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre in 2015 as the New Centre Manager. Having worked in the Watersports Industry in the UK and overseas for over 18 years Alex has gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge.

Dan Hallam

Dan has joined the team in 2015 as an Assistant Centre Manager, bringing his wealth of experience to drive the centre forward, focusing on our brand new professional instructor training programme.
